Monkey was a gorgeous longhaired grey manx with a most excellent disposition. Miraculously, none of that has changed as you can see from his videos. Why then has he been selected as a cat that won't be adopted out and needs a sponsor?
Monkey is the victim of the very bad practice of mutilating cats by declawing them, which is just now becoming illegal around the state. The unfortunate effects of declawing often include making a cat so uncomfortable that he or she can't use a litter box, with the result that appropriate elimination becomes impossible.
Monkey was unlucky. He has been adopted out again to loving families, but returned because of his problems. We have reluctantly concluded that he must stay with us in the shelter. He appears quite content, and we are able to take care of his needs.
