Kimmie’s Korner: October is here!

October brings so many reasons to celebrate—the crisp fall air, pumpkins and Halloween fun, and of course our very favorite… National Adopt a Shelter Dog Month!

This month is dedicated to shining a light on the hundreds of dogs in shelters waiting for a family of their own. The goal is simple: get these precious pups out of the shelter and into loving, permanent homes. Every adoption not only changes that dog’s life forever, but also opens space for another in need—helping relieve the overcrowding in municipal shelters where, sadly, euthanasia rates can be high.

But adoption isn’t the only way to make a difference. Here are a few other ways you can help:

Sponsor an adoption fee. The application process stays the same, but sometimes a waived fee sparks extra interest. Plus, it frees up adopters to spoil their new pup with toys, treats, and a comfy bed.

Volunteer your time. Walking and playing with shelter dogs, helping at off-site adoptions, or pitching in at events makes a huge impact. The extra attention eases stress for our pups, and we promise the warm fuzzies you’ll get in return are priceless. (In fact, many of our best adopters first came to us as volunteers!)

Spread the word. Like and share our social media posts(@freemanfritts) so more people see the amazing dogs in our care—you never know which share will be the one that helps a pup find their forever home!

This month in particular, Amanda and Titus are looking for their forever homes! Their adoptions have been sponsored, meaning their adoption fees are fully covered—so there’s no reason not to welcome these sweet pups into your family. Let’s help them find the loving homes they deserve today!

Ask us how else you can help. Whether it’s donating supplies, supporting one our events, sponsoring adoption fees on one or more of our long term/harder to place residents. Every little bit adds up to big changes for shelter pets.
