When it comes to making a difference in the lives of animals, young people often lead the way. Their energy, creativity, and enthusiasm can transform an animal shelter community, bringing new ideas and unwavering dedication to help animals in need. At Freeman Fritts, we’ve seen this in action—and it’s nothing short of inspiring.
In early February, the Student Council from Center Point Elementary visited us(Freeman Fritts) with donations they had collected for our shelter animals. Their efforts brought food, blankets, toys, and treats—items that are always in high demand. What makes their contribution even more remarkable is that they dedicated their time and resources to animals—an effort that goes far beyond the classroom.
Volunteering at an animal shelter provides young people with more than just a chance to help animals—it teaches responsibility and teamwork. They develop practical skills—organizing drives, advocating for animals, and planning events—while learning the value of community service.
Ways Youth Can Help Freeman Fritts
There are many ways young people can get involved and make a difference:
• Volunteer Opportunities: Walk dogs, socialize cats, help with adoption events, or assist on shelter projects.
• Fundraising & Donation Drives: Organize collections for food, toys, or supplies at school or in your neighborhood.

We’re excited to share that, in hopes of starting this summer, we plan to launch a special program for younger kids to get involved with Freeman Fritts. While details are still being finalized, this program is designed to give even our smallest animal lovers the chance to make a big impact. Stay tuned as we work to make this dream a reality!
When youth step up, they inspire others—their peers, families, and entire communities—to take action for animals. Each act of kindness, no matter how small, helps shelter animals get closer to the loving homes they deserve.
Get Involved
No matter how big or small, every act of kindness—walking a dog, sharing a cat’s story, or organizing a donation drive—makes a real difference at Freeman Fritts.
