Monkey's Bio

Meet Monkey!

Born May 2014, he is a longhaired gray Manx with an incredible personality. So, why is he now one of our sanctuary cats, available only for sponsorship rather than adoption?

Monkey came to us as a kitten with a severe injury, likely from getting stuck in a car’s fan belt, which primarily affected his jaw but also his rectum. Thanks to the love and care of our team, he recovered and was once ready for adoption.

Unfortunately, his first adoption did not go as planned. Despite being advised not to, his adopters had him declawed. Declawing can have significant negative effects on cats, often making them uncomfortable using a litter box and leading to unwanted behaviors. He was returned shortly after.

Though it seemed like an unlucky break, Monkey was given another chance with a loving family. But they fell on hard times and could not keep him. Again, a 3rd family came and seemed to be perfect, however, this time his litter box issues persisted. And he was returned once again.

We made the difficult decision to let Monkey stay with us permanently rather than adoption. He’s now part of our sanctuary family, where we’re able to meet his needs, and he seems quite happy.

Monkey would love a sponsor to help support his care. He truly is one of the best!

You can make a difference by virtually adopting him. Sponsoring Monkey is a win-win. You gain the joy of a virtual pet to care for, and we receive the financial support needed for his well-being. You’re always welcome to visit Monkey, too!
If you’re interested in sponsoring Monkey or another cat in our shelter, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We’d be happy to answer any questions you may have and help you get started on your sponsorship journey.
